Safety and Awareness Issues in Home Health Care
Home health care is a growing industry and, as such, is a common target for scammers. Some pose as health aides or nurses in order to gain access to a patients home or to collect information for identity theft. To prevent these kind of scams, always know your health care provider and if you have a question, call, on your phone, to confirm the worker’s identity. Do not be fooled by medical clothing, which can be purchased at Walmart, fake badges, or the scammer offering to call his supervisor on his or her own phone. By using their own phone they can call an accomplice to make their claim of a health aide seem legitimate. In the growing field of home health care, providers and consumers need to be aware and proactive in preventing scams.
