Is Skinnier really Healthier?
For many years now, the health community has told us that being overweight was a health risk and everyone should work hard to obtain a fit and trim body with no more than 20 percent body fat. If we did not achieve these goals, we were putting our health at risk. New research shows that healthy is more than weight or body fat percentages. Healthy eating and an active life style are a better predictor of overall health than scales and charts. Skinny people who do not eat healthy food are more likely to have health issues than a heavier person who eats well and is active. This means that we should all concentrate more on finding enjoyable activities that keep us active and eating lots of fresh foods with minimal processing and not on the bathroom scale. Good habits will improve our health more than a particular number on the scale.
